Venting ;)

Hi Guys!

It is very rare I will do a post to vent. I try, in my life and always, to stay as positive as possible even when situations are EXTREMELY difficult.

But this hit close to home, and I do just need to vent.

Let me start by saying, I understand 100% adoption is not for everyone. Trust me, a year ago, I would have said the SAME exact thing. However, when you are in the situation we are in, your thought process is completely different.  We have dreamed of having a child for our whole life. Even before we met each other. Why should an illness stop us from that dream?

I have heard the following comments in the past 24 hours that make me really sick to my stomach:

"Why are you adopting if you do not have all of the adoption money?"
"I think it is selfish you are waiting just for a newborn"
"Why not just cheat on Kurt, get pregnant, and just don't tell him" (heard this more than once)

Those are just a few. Seriously? Like I said, I get it, it might not be for you, but these are crazy things to say!  I found this on another adoption forum and had to share:

"Giving birth does not make you a mother, true love for a child grows in your heart, not your tummy."

I also want to be clear and say I LOVE QUESTIONS. This is a HUGE learning process for us too and we are not professionals at adoption. I love answering everyone's inquiries about our status, where we are at, how long it will take, etc.  But keep in mind, it is the golden rule to treat others how you would want to be treated.

Thanks for allowing me to vent and sticking with my thought process right now and reading it! ;)

I am shocked by the comments you have heard! Those things are absolutely awful! I would be angry too. You two will be great parents, and don't listen to ignorant people who have no idea what they are saying. Let me know what I can do to help you with the yard sale! I don't know if i have much to donate, all i have is junk lol.

I am amazed that anyone has had the nerve to say those things to you! (Esp. the last one about cheating on Kurt, really?!?!?!) Some people are just ignorant, and rude! And I really hate the comment about adopting when you can't afford it....Um hello, how many people can really "afford" to have kids when they do? If we all waited until we were loaded to have kids we'd never have any! Adopting or not I don't think you can ever really "afford" them (nor are you ever really ready, financial, emotionally, physically or mentally!) (I don't exactly have a few grand sitting around for the one on the way!) And even so, when did having tons of money become a requirement for being a parent? Wow, all I can say is I'm sorry such things have been said but complete idiots who are obviously not sensitive and understanding of your situation. You can Kurt have all there is to offer to a child (Love, a home, desire to parent and passion for it!) No amount of money could make up for that! (Sorry for the long rant!)
